Free Credit
Report
This website allows you to get your Free Credit Report. There are three
credit report companies: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. You are allowed
to get one free report from each company once a year. We recommend that
you get one report every four months (one from each company), which will
allow you to monitor your report on a regular basis. Remember that your
report is FREE; you don’t have to accept any of the paid services to get
it.
Stop unsolicited
credit card offers
This website lets you opt out of receiving unsolicited credit card and
insurance offers that come in the mail. You have two choices. You can
fill out the form online and opt out for 5 years or you can print out
a letter from the site and mail it in to be permanently removed.
National Do Not Call
Registry
This website is a government site that allows you to stop those annoying
phone calls from telemarketers. We recommend you put in both your landline
and cell phone numbers. You will see a dramatic decline in the calls you
receive. This will not eliminate political, charity and telephone survey
calls, as they are exempt from the list.

Credit Reporting Act

in 1970. It regulates the collection, dissemination, and use of consumer
credit information. This statute is the basis of consumer credit rights
in the United States.
Fair
Debt Collection Practices Act
This link will take you to a copy of The Fair Debt Collection Practices
Act (FDCPA). This statute was enacted in 1978 as part of the Consumer
Credit Protection Act. Its purpose is to eliminate abusive practices in
the collection of consumer debts, to promote fair debt collection and
to provide consumers with a means for disputing and being sure that credit
information reported is accurate.
